Fourth Year
Fall 2016 was my last quarter at UW, and while though I'm extremely excited to be done, it is bittersweet. I loved learning and being surrounded by questioning academics that are never satisfied with a simple answer, yet I could do without studying for another midterm and being able to spend my weekends outside hiking, sailing, and skiing rather than doing homework. It amazes me that I was able to finish early, but I also know that I made quite a few tradeoffs to be at this point. The classes I took were required and I did not stray from my carefully planned schedule. Studying abroad didn't fit into my plans, but working abroad did. I could have made a study abroad work, but I was too indecisive to choose where to go and always interested in a program a month after the application was due.
I moved out of my house and I'm now away from my friends that I have lived with the past three years. It was be my last fall on campus and I hope some wide-eyed freshman trying to find their way will take my place of staring in awe at the trees that no one else but me seem to notice. My neighborhood and the local nature area that I have spent hours walking around thinking about what I want my future to look like will be replaced by a park near wherever I end up. |
Autumn 2016
JSIS 498: Readings in Censorship: Media, Information, and Politics in a Global Perspective Econ 492: Macroeconomics of Emerging Markets-> the first and only Econ class I 4.0'd. It was a big day when I found out. Honors 220: DNA and Evolution This schedule is perhaps one of my favorites from my time at UW. For the first time since freshman year, I was not trying to plan my class schedule so it would accommodate my work schedule. Outside of the ten hours I was in class each week, my main activity was applying to jobs and while I was unsuccessful in having something lined up after for January. I learned a lot in the process. Even though now I have a job, I am excited to slowly continue this process and I'm looking forward to where I might end up, and the possibilities and opportunities that I don't even know exist yet. |
