US Policy at Asia's Strategic Crossroads: After the 2015 Election in Burma/Myanmar
A quarter long research and policy brief project researching, project management, and completing the final project. Beyond our paper which you can download below, we ended with:
- a ridiculously large amount of Google docs that despite our best efforts to keep things organized, took on a life of their own shortly after we started writing in February.
- Skype interviews at 4 in the morning Seattle-time, 7:30 in the evening Burma-time
- lots of Google searches
- Feedback from our professor with large amounts of ALL CAPS and !!!!!!
- the group mentality that we are all in it together because in the end, Task Force is one, long group project and our final success and product depended on consistent work and effort from everyone
- learning about military general after military general, each one's quirks, habits, successes and failures
- gaining a unique perspective about the Nobel Peace Prize through discussions with our Professor, Mary Callahan, about the campaign that went into Aung San Suu Kyi's award, and viewing Aung San Suu Kyi with a critical view, and seeing the world differently after learning about authoritarian regimes, their leaders, and the international development community from Professor Callahan's experiences and observations.
- Feeling very thankful to have spent a quarter with my fellow classmates and colleagues, sharing stresses, challenges, and successes, and how we may have been a very random grouping of students, we worked together extremely well and enjoyed each others' company
